2010 Subaru Legacy...
Subaru is cutting a new version of its long-running hit sedan, the Legacy, due in showrooms this summer. Cutting--or perhaps sharper--is the best way to describe the fifth-generation car, which is redone for 2010 with a rakish design, more powerful engines and claims of a smoother chassis. It will be unveiled at the New York auto show in April and is very close to the concept shown in Detroit....

There's nothing like a limited edition to strike up interest for a car. By Automotive News | 03/29/09, 6:08 pm et
General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner is about to resign from the top job after an eight-year tenure at the struggling automaker, media reports said.

The automaker, which hasn't posted a profit since 2004, awaits word on Monday from President Obama on a request for as much as $16.6 billion in additional U.S. aid. GM is surviving on $13.4 billion in U.S. loans.
The Associated Press reported that Wagoner will leave the struggling Detroit...

The redesigned BMW Z4 goes on sale May 9 in the United States....
The new Z4, BMW's first roadster with a folding hardtop, replaces both the Z4 coupe and roadster. Every piece of the car's sheetmetal is new, though with its long hood and prominent shoulder lines, it is recognizable as nothing other than a Z4. The car is bigger in every dimension. At 166 inches long and 50 inches high, the new car is still 6 inches shorter and 5 inches lower than a 1-series...

Among the debuts we expect for next month's New York auto show is a redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee. And we've got an early glimpse of the new SUV, courtesy of spy photographers. Yes, this prototype is pretty well covered up in black vinyl. And we think the steel tube bumpers front and rear...

The Mazda stand at next month's New York auto show will be bustling with three different debuts. An updated 2010 version of the company's award winning CX-9 crossover will make its world debut, while the 2010 CX-7 has its American introduction. Completing the trio is the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3, which...

Audi's Tom Kristensen was in a familiar spot after Friday's final practice before the 12 Hours of Sebring--the fastest. The four-time winner of the endurance race recorded a fast lap of 1 minute, 45.200 seconds (126.616 mph) in morning practice, outpacing the rest of the field at Sebring...

This weekend's 57th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring promises to be action packed. With three top-tier LMP1 manufacturers entered, the stage is set for what potentially could be close finish. The diesels from Audi and Peugeot topped the time sheets in practice, but a gas-powered Acura broke...

OUR TAKE: More than enough has already been written about how this isn't the "new" Focus, but a retread on a retread while Europeans drive a car based on the new Mazda 3. True, of course, but that doesn't tell you much about the car in Ford showroom. It's not just a retread on a retread...

General Motors and Chrysler clearly have an image problem. In a classic case of: "It's not me--it's you," fewer consumers are considering the two Detroit automakers in the wake of their pleas for government assistance and bankruptcy rumors. The share of buyers who would make a GM car their...

OUR TAKE: There are two basic reasons for de-contenting a vehicle. You have the performance reasons, as with the Dodge Viper ACR and the Honda S2000 CR, to save weight and eke out a few extra tenths per lap. People will notice that you don't have a radio or air conditioning and think you are ...

A head-turning burgundy 1932 Ford B400 took home top honors at Detroit's Autorama on Sunday, winning the coveted Ridler award over seven other finalists.
Dubbed the "Deucenberg V8," the car is designed to be an elegant hot rod, drawing on cues from the luxurious Duesenbergs of that era. It has an aluminum lift-off roof with cloth top, suicide doors, a stretched hood and leather interior. Power comes from a 405-hp LS6 engine.
The car took about four years to develop and build. It's loaded with a number of custom features, including a narrowed grille and cowls designed to look like the Ford's 1933 style--which sets off the front end; angled A- and B-pillars and even one-off bolts for the bumpers.
"This car is literally unique, and it has one-off parts from bumper to bumper," said...
